Navigators Christmas Party

The Navigators' yearly Christmas (I realize the redundancy here) party was this evening. I attended because I wanted to go. There was food, which was a good thing, and after that we did a gigantic white elephant gig. Because there were 76 of us (at least) participating. And this isn't counting the few who left early.

Which leads us to the problem. There were almost 80 people in the same (smallish) house. Although 80 people crammed into any house is too much. Actually, to further the situation. There were 80 of us in TWO ROOMS. Packed.

I do not like crowds. Especially when everyone starts talking at once. About forty-five minutes before I left, I felt myself growing nervous, so I had to withdraw myself. I'm used to it by now though, so it's not really that big a deal. I did have to check my breathing, though. I was on the verge of hyperventilating.

Yes, that is Luke for you. I can see his problem, but not nearly so much as he. (Heh...almost a rhyme.) Me, I will take care of those who start frustrating me like that. You can read that as you wish. Perhaps you are correct, perhaps not.

Ah. But he did say there were 80 humans. They were humans, right? Thought so. That would be far too uncomfortable for my liking. Someone would need to be there to keep me from reaching for my preferred weapon, which I will not mention here so as to maintain the sense of mystery. Although I would not be surprised if it is too late for that and my secrets have all been discovered by now.

H'akshena.

NaNoWriMo

As of a couple days ago, I have reached the 50,000 word goal for the month of November. Now I have time to study for exams!

Which could mean my writing is delayed. Or computer time, whichever one.

Special Note

I'm not sure how often I will be able to post on here. Depends on my schedule, I guess. There's a lot going on that I didn't expect, and even more that is probably in the works. I don't know.

I'll drop by on occasion for sure, that much is guaranteed. And no, for those of you still trying to figure it out, the full moon does not bother me.

See you later.

Vent #1

Read at your own risk...

I'm supposed to be able to access my preliminary grade for yesterday's calc exam; of course the page won't show up. 'Cause that would make sense, wouldn't it?

Oh, yeah. We're working on a project for Engineering. The idea is to get a rubber chicken into one of three holes on a ramp. It's due next Wednesday, and thanks to random happenings, we more or less found out that unless something changes, we're pretty much screwed. That's great, isn't it!

It might work, but currently the thing'll screw up somewhere down the line, probably before it reaches the first hole. So guess what happens this weekend? Redesigning at the last minute!

Ugh...

The Dragon Conspirators

So I realized something. A couple of you have read The Dragon Conspirators in its entirety, so you know the path the story takes. But that may change soon.

Yes, I have decided to rewrite it. Why? Because I can do better than what I currently have. True, much of the story should stay about the same, but I am going to change one very important event: the prologue. When I'm done with that, you'll probably wonder what happened! That big object I mention in the center of the room? Gone.

As are all aspects of the Experiment, though Henry David Smithson will remain, most likely. Yes, he will. Except his role will be that of an observer of the dragon species.

By writing the stories and discovering the history of Elchnon and its inhabitants, I realized that it is possible for dragons to take on a human form on their own, although it can take centuries of practice to perfect this magical illusion. ArnĂn, however, is unable to do this. So his human form must come about through another means.

I think it makes the story more interesting, anyway.

When I originally envisioned the book, more took place in Elchnon than the finished product showed. While that most likely will not change, I would like to be able to include--if not in this book than another--a more detailed look at draconic culture. Feedback would be appreciated on this. Or any of it, for that matter.

I also thought I skipped too much. For example, I originally wanted Snake Valley to be just as badly off as the rest of the world, but eventually that changed and Ephmir became the governor of the region. But I don't like how I mention the human condition without ever showing it.

So what does all this mean?

To be honest, I don't know.

First...kinda

Kon'nichi wa, minna-san!

This is my first blog on this site, although I have used other places before. (Except those others are a pain.)

What do I plan to do here? My objectives can be summed up as follows:
1. Provide insight into the mysterious world that is my mind.
2. Give the occasional personal-life update, though I wouldn't count on that.
3. Shed light on the status of my stories while keeping them secret enough.
4. Vent. Because that will happen sometimes.

Lest the reader assume that nothing else will ever be found on this page, allow me to say that these Objectives are by no means a full list.

Because I don't like lists.
